The IPG was founded in 2002 and has evolved into a boutique firm specializing in international and domestic corporate and cross border transactions as well as general U.S. civil and commercial litigation. Guillermo Marrero the founder is a bilingual, bicultural attorney that has been practicing law in San Diego since 1981, and before founding IPG in 2002 was a partner and chair of the U.S. Mexico Practice Group for one of San Diego’s oldest and largest firms.

The International Practice Group has a unique practice with a unique combination of attorneys from both Mexico and the U.S. offering legal services on both countries with the ability to represent our clients in English and Spanish.

  • U.S. Litigation: Representation of domestic and international clients in the U.S. both in California and a number of State and Federal Courts in other states.
  • Corporate: Our firm has assisted numerous clients in structuring their domestic and cross border operations from the initial project planning to setting up their U.S. or Mexico affiliates or subsidiaries and corporate maintenance.
  • Real Estate: Our firm has extensive experience in all phases of U.S. and Mexican real estate matters. We have served as lead counsel on a number of real estate projects both domestic and international ranging from sale of hotels and hotel chains to large scale housing, hotel and mixed use properties. We offer a broad array range of advisory services for clients buying Real Property in Mexico along Mexico’s Prohibited Zone (Zona Prohibida) from structuring the sale, Mexican title search, negotiating the purchase and sale agreement to setting up the fideicomiso.
  • Cross Border Transactions: We have negotiated and drafted a wide array of cross border transactions including international and cross border joint ventures, consulting contracts, incorporating in Mexico and the U.S., licensing (including trademark, technology etc.) commercial transactions etc. We have ample experience setting up and dismantling manufacturing operations in Mexico.
